WWI (1914-1918)
The "Russian" category in Imperial records often included Ukrainians ("Little Russians") and Belarusians ("White Russians"). If combined, the East Slavic share of casualties would be over 85%. The 55% figure specifically isolates "Great Russians" based on 1897 census data and General Golovin's analysis.
WWII (1941-1945)
The 66.4% figure is the most precise historical data point available, derived from General Krivosheev's 1993 study. It explicitly lists 5,756,000 ethnic Russian military deaths out of 8.7 million total irrecoverable losses, reflecting the heavy mobilization of the RSFSR population.
Ukraine (2022-Present)
While ethnic minorities (such as Buryats and Tuvans) suffer disproportionately high casualty rates relative to their small populations, ethnic Russians still comprise the absolute majority (~70%) of confirmed military deaths due to the sheer size of the ethnic Russian population (approx. 80% of Russia's total).
